Site Description

Sheffield Old Town Hall/Court House was built in 1808, originally used as Sheffield Town Hall before later becoming Sheffield Crown Court. The imposing building is Grade II listed and approximately 42,000 sq ft over basement, ground, first, second, third and fourth floors. The building has fallen into disrepair and has remained dormant since 1996.

In 2019, full planning permission was granted with conditions for a mixed use scheme to include 12 serviced apartments, 12 'Pod' hotel rooms and use of the lower ground floor as a 'Souk'. The property may be suitable for other schemes subject to the relevant planning permissions.

Location

The property is located within a prominent position in Sheffield City Centre, on Castle Street which can be accessed off the A61. The property sits within the evolving Castlegate Quarter with other buildings in the area forming part of the regeneration Master Plan. The property is located within a predominantly commercial area with a mixture of retail and office premises in the vicinity. There are also residential developments, mainly to the east of the property and to the upper floors of the immediate neighbouring properties. Sheffield is well connected by train, with London accessible within two hours from Sheffield Train Station.
